2025 Indianapolis Colts Season Win Total Picks

Hate to say, “I told you so.”
Scratch that. I love saying, “I told you so.” We can deep-dive into why that is at another time. But for the purposes of the Colts, they are in a prison of their own making because they didn’t see what was obvious at the time: that Anthony Richardson was way more likely to be a bust than he ever was to be a superstar.
Lo and behold, Richardson is in his third season in the NFL and he is still no closer to being a viable starting quarterback option than when he entered the league in 2023.
As a result, Shane Steichen’s head coaching career hinges on miraculous development from either Richardson or former first round flameout Daniel Jones.
Oh, and Richardson got crushed in the first quarter of Indy’s preseason opener, throwing his ability to even win the starting job into question.
It’s a shame, too, because I feel like Steichen has done a pretty good job as a head coach. He has dragged this team to a .500 record over two seasons (17-17) despite getting substandard quarterback play from Gardner Minshew, Richardson, and Joe Flacco. That trio has combined for 38 touchdowns and 29 interceptions the past two seasons.

Here is a look at the 2025 Indianapolis Colts:
INDIANAPOLIS COLTS 2025 OFFENSE
Richardson is trash and is trying to come back from a lingering shoulder injury. He reportedly looks healthy and strong in training camp. But what benefit is that? He has barely completed 50 percent of his passes over two seasons and was a comical 47.7 percent as a passer in 11 games last year.
Richardson has 21 passing and rushing touchdowns in 17 career games. He also has turned the ball over 14 times (and that is despite losing just one of 12 career fumbles).
Jones is Jones. Like Richardson, Jones has intriguing physical traits. Like Richardson, he is also a turnover machine whose upside is limited by sketchy accuracy and questionable decision making.
Indianapolis was an excellent running team last year, finishing No. 5 in the NFL in rush yards per game. A lot of that is Jonathan Taylor just being awesome. But credit does have to go to the offensive line, which lost two starters to free agency.
Also, Taylor logged 321 touches last season. The only other time he had over 300 carries was in 2021. Taylor was hurt each of the two seasons after that. And if he misses any significant time this season it would be a major blow to the attack.
Third down efficiency will be a key stat for the Colts offense in 2025. They only converted 37.9 percent of their third downs last season and just 35.3 percent on The Money Down in 2023. Better quarterback play would go a long way to helping this offense stay on the field and sustain drives.
INDIANAPOLIS COLTS 2025 DEFENSE
Indianapolis wasn’t just poor on third down on offense. Last year’s Colts were No. 29 in the league in third down defense, allowing opponents to convert 44.4 percent of the time.
Then again, the Colts weren’t very good at anything on this side of the ball. They were No. 29 in total defense, No. 26 against the pass, No. 24 against the run and No. 24 in points allowed.
Steichen dumped defensive coordinator Gus Bradley in the offseason, replacing him with Cincinnati cast-off Lou Anarumo. Anarumo is more likely to blitz than Bradley and the new D.C. is known for making in-game adjustments. The Colts will be playing different coverages and will be more focused on creating turnovers.
Indianapolis will have to hope that Anarumo’s scheme can kickstart the defense because the Colts have nine of 11 starters back from last year’s weak unit.

INDIANAPOLIS COLTS 2025 SEASON PICKS AND PREDICTIONS
The Colts are basically an NPC in the NFL right now.
Over the last 10 years the franchise has finished within a game of .500 in six of 10 years. They’ve had two winning, playoff seasons and they’ve had two four-win campaigns. The Colts are a feeble 3-7 against their Las Vegas season win total during that stretch.
So, the Colts are just kind of there. They haven’t been bad enough to tank their way into a full-blown rebuild. And they have never been a real threat to anyone in the AFC. It’s been a decade of mediocrity.
And there’s no reason to expect them to be anything other than mediocre this year, either.
They have no statistical indicators flashing that they are either overrated or underrated. They have no buzz or excitement. There is no bandwagon. They aren’t a popular team to fade.
The Colts are going to win some games. They are going to lose some games. And they are going to find themselves hovering right around .500 again this year. There is absolutely no way that I would put a dollar on this total, which is currently set at 7.5, because I think it is the perfect number for a team that is among the least interesting in the league. But if I’m going to be wrong let me be wrong on the ‘over’.
