2025 Miami Dolphins Season Win Total Picks

Two years ago, Miami was a fun, exciting, up-and-coming contender in the AFC. They went 11-6, scored nearly 500 points, and made the playoffs for the second straight year, indicative of a young team on the rise.
Then, Miami slipped to 8-9 last season. On the surface, that seems like a mild regression and, while disappointing, not catastrophic.
But it felt much worse than that. The Dolphins started just 2-6 and were basically a league afterthought by Halloween.
Then the rumors started to leak out.
Miami had run off defensive coordinator Vic Fangio, who went on to win the Super Bowl behind a dominant defense. The Dolphins had no respect for head coach Mike McDaniel and had issues with players being consistently late. Tyreek Hill got going about whatever nonsense Tyreek Hill is on about in any given week. Throw in some head-scratching trades and there are serious questions about what is going on behind the scenes with this group.
Now here we are with the Dolphins entering a crucial 2025. McDaniel is on the hot seat. The roster has been turned over – with 44 new players in training camp - and still has plenty of question marks. And this group looks a lot closer to an implosion than it does a breakthrough.

MIAMI DOLPHINS 2025 OFFENSE
Tua Tagavailoa is 38-24 in his 62 career starts. He is extremely accurate, completing around 68 percent of his career passes, and he throws a very catchable ball. Of course, any success with the Dolphins and Tagavailoa is predicated on him staying healthy, which no one expects the concussion-prone starter to be able to do.
In 2023, Miami was No. 1 in total offense and No. 2 in the league in scoring. Last year they dropped to No. 18 and No. 22, respectively, in those two statistics.
Injuries were part of the problem. The bigger issue was a general lack of explosiveness. Miami finished last in the NFL with just 19 plays of 25 or more yards. Some of that was the result of defensive adjustments to McDaniels’ offense. And some was McDaniels adjusting to a substandard offensive line.
The skill players – Tua, Hill, Jaylen Waddle and De’Von Achane – are still in place. The key is going to be how the line, with four new starters, gels and performs.
MIAMI DOLPHINS 2025 DEFENSE
The Dolphins made significant strides last year under defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver. They finished No. 4 in total defense and No. 10 in points allowed, posting Top 10 numbers against both the rush and the pass.
Miami was also exceptional on third downs and in the red zone, finishing No. 5 in both. They allowed 35.9 percent on third downs and only 49 percent of opponents’ red zone trips ended in a touchdown.
Unfortunately, Miami was only able to retain four of the defensive starters from last season. In fact, 12 of their top 22 players on this side of the ball heading into the season are new faces.

MIAMI DOLPHINS 2025 SEASON PICKS AND PREDICTIONS
The oddest part about Miami’s disappointing 2024 was that it wasn’t the product of bad luck or statistical oddities.
They didn’t lose a bunch of close games. They didn’t have fluke turnovers. It wasn’t red zone inefficiencies or yards per point.
The Fins just weren’t very good. Maybe it was the coaches. Maybe it was the players. Maybe it was both. But in a way, I think it is worse that they don’t have one or two glaring things to point to as to why they flopped last season.
I’m going to take a stab with the ‘over’ on this group. I don’t think they are getting enough credit for their 6-3 finish. And even though a lot of things did go wrong last year they still weren’t all that far from a 10-win season.
Also, Miami has a manageable schedule. It’s not unreasonable to think that they could start 5-2 with games against the Colts, Pats, Jets, Panthers and Browns. Also, between Oct. 27 and Jan. 2 the Fins only play two true road games (although they do lose a home game by having to face Washington in Madrid).
If they can find two wins in December I have this team getting back to nine wins and I think they will once again finish in second place in the AFC East. Add in the fact that there is plus-money on ‘over’ 8.5 and I think that’s the right side.
