The optimism around the Saints is minimal heading into this season. New Orleans was forced to move on from Derek Carr at quarterback after he retired due to ongoing injuries, and the Saints have missed the playoffs in four straight seasons. However, owner Gayle Brunson refuses to commit to a rebuild, and the Saints have elected to try and win now while delaying their big cap hits to future seasons. Will that be a strategy that pays off for New Orleans, or will it be another lost season with a grim future ahead for the Saints?

A rough 4-8 start for Cincinnati in 2024 limited how far the Bengals would go last season. They opened up the season with three straight losses (by just 12 points combined) and they would limp to a 4-8 record through Week 13. Seven of those eight losses were by one possession. After the slow start, they found a spark and wound up going on a five-game winning streak to close out the regular season. Unfortunately for them, it was too little too late, and they wound up missing the playoffs.

The Pittsburgh Steelers started last season 10-3, with key wins against Baltimore and Washington in back-to-back weeks. Unfortunately for them, their season quickly flipped as they lost their last four regular season games and finished with a -52-point differential in that span. After finishing second in the AFC North with a 10-7 record, the Steelers would see a quick exit in the playoffs as they lost to the Ravens by 14 in the Wild Card Round. Their +33-point differential was the lowest among all playoff teams from last season.

The Cleveland Browns finished at the bottom of the AFC North and the bottom of the league standings. They finished with a 3-14 record which was tied with the Giants and Titans as the worst in record in the NFL. Their -177-point differential was the second worst mark in the league ahead of only Carolina. They managed just one road win last season which came in Week 2 against Jacksonville. Cleveland finished the season losing six straight.

They had a successful season last year with a playoff win over the Vikings before coming incredibly close to knocking off the eventual Super Bowl champions, the Philadelphia Eagles in the divisional round.
